What is Access Control
An Access Control system is a method of administering controlled access for your building, including securing doors and specific rooms with electronic locks controlled with a range of technology. Smart Constrction Security can provide what you need whether for a single door or a multi-faceted site.
Benefits of Access Control Systems
An Access Control system is the building block of your overall security strategy, enabling you to control who interacts with your organisation, when, and what areas of the organisation they can access. Your staff, property, assets, critical data and intellectual property are at a much higher risk without this.

Types of Access Control System
SCS offers a range of building access control systems, from basic code input systems to biometric solutions, we are confident we have the perfect system for your home or business. Some of our systems have extra features such as HR integration, attendance registration, cashless vending and visitor management.
Door Entry Systems

Door Entry systems employ a variety of techniques to control entry including keypad door locks, proximity readers, smart cards, swipe cards and fobs. Our advanced systems also provide video and audio entry for greater visibility and management which areas individuals are accessing.
Biometric Access Control

Biometric security is at the cutting edge of access control, providing the ability for an electronic system to grant or deny access based on a person's physical characteristics.
This can be room or area specific.
Biometrics provides a higher level of identity security than proximity-based access control systems as it is based on unique biological information that allows companies to verify identity without risk of replication.
Biometric security devices store the biological information such as fingerprints. The information is stored in the system, meaning that only those people whose information is stored are eligible for access.
Proximity Readers

Proximity readers and proximity cards are used on many of our systems to control access to doors included within your Access Control solution. A proximity reader is a contactless card reader, programmable to trigger electronic door locks when information from a contactless proximity card is received.
When a proximity card is held near to a proximity card reader, it transmits uniquely encoded information to the reader. If the information is acceptable, the reader grants access, unlocking the door.
HID Access Control Cards

HID proximity cards (or HID cards) are supplied by HID Global, a leading supplier of secure identity equipment for access control systems. SCS has used HID cards in our systems and we recommend them mainly for larger organisations where access is needed for high volumes of people.

Door Entry Security

An extra layer of security is offered by door entry systems, including audio entry, combined audio and video entry and more comprehensive Access Control solutions.
Video Entry Systems

Video entry systems, often referred to as video intercom systems allow you to see and speak to a visitor before deciding whether to grant them access. A video door intercom is often used for main reception doors, enhancing security by offering better visibility and control of people’s access to your building.
This has the added advantage of helping to protect a receptionist who work alone in the area.
Wireless Video Entry System

Wireless technology has made wireless a smart, cost-effective solution for your video door entry system. Opting for a wireless door entry system can offer advantages over a wired video intercom as it reduces the need for wiring as well as being tidier and portable.
Audio Door Entry System
Audio door entry systems are popular for door access control. Also referred to as audio intercom systems or entry phone systems, they are deployable across a range of commercial or residential buildings to manage visitors and stop unauthorised access. Visitors are required to call the business using the entry phone system. Usually located by the door, these systems can be integrated with a camera to create a video entry system.

SCS offers a full range of hard wired or wireless solutions. A wireless intercom system has the advantage of using radio signals to communicate between devices, removing the need for wiring between the main entry panel and receiver, and ensuring quicker installation time and portability. Wireless also allows for several intercoms to be located around the building, rather than in just one location. Our surveyors can advise you on the best option for your business.
